Privacy & Edge Data Policy
Docilis Labs operates under a foundational principle: perception belongs at the edge. Here is how our cognitive systems, assistive vision models, and web platforms handle telemetry, inference buffers, and user data.
Zero Cloud Video
Camera feeds from AI4Sight assistive glasses are processed strictly in local RAM and discarded immediately. No raw video is ever uploaded.
On-Device Inference
The DVIE v1.5 engine executes entirely offline on bare-metal ARM/NCNN accelerators without requiring internet connectivity.
Regulatory Standard
Full compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 and global GDPR / CCPA privacy frameworks.
01.Scope & Research Entity
This Privacy Policy applies to the official web portals, research repositories, prototype software, and assistive vision systems developed by Docilis Labs, an embodied artificial intelligence research laboratory based in Nairobi, Kenya, under the direction of deep tech architect Luke Tsalwa.
02.Project AI4Sight & Vision Stream Processing
Project AI4Sight is designed for blind and visually impaired individuals using wearable edge hardware. To protect the dignity and constitutional privacy rights of both device users and bystanders in public environments:
- Ephemeral Frame Buffers: Camera frames captured by the hardware sensor (e.g., Pi Camera Module) exist exclusively in volatile RAM for the duration of inference (~18ms to 24ms) and are immediately overwritten.
- No Persistent Visual Storage: Under default production operating parameters, no photos, videos, or raw optical sensor data are saved to local SD cards or persistent storage.
- Zero Cloud Telemetry of Streams: The device does not stream, upload, or transmit visual feeds to remote cloud servers or third-party cognitive APIs.
03.Website Telemetry & Cookie Usage
When navigating docilislabs.com, we collect anonymized, non-personally identifiable diagnostic metrics to evaluate lab communication and readership:
04.Data Protection Laws & Compliance
We uphold the provisions of the Kenyan Data Protection Act (2019) administered by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), as well as aligning with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for international collaborators. You retain the right to inquire about, request deletion of, or inspect any communications submitted to our research team.
